Between the cheerful shouts of students during our Homeschooling Days and School visits to the hustle and bustle of "Fun on the Farm," and an unforgettable Wilder Weekend 2026, our historic site has truly come alive this season.

For fans of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved books and the classic Little House on the Prairie television series, making the pilgrimage to Burke, New York, is always a special journey. But this year? We took things to a whole new level.

If you missed out on the action, here is a look at what made our recent calendar so extraordinary:

• Homeschooling Days, School Visits & "Fun on the Farm": We loved welcoming students, families, and history enthusiasts to walk the very grounds where young Almanzo grew up as chronicled in Farmer Boy. From traditional farm chores to exploring the restored barns, seeing the kids connect hands-on with 19th-century history is what our mission is all about.

• The Ultimate TV Reunion: Wilder Weekend 2026 brought out incredible reactions across our Facebook and Instagram feeds—and for good reason! Fans were treated to a heartwarming, historic reunion between Dean Butler (our favorite television Almanzo Wilder) and Charles Bloom (Pearly Day Wilder). Seeing them back together on the historic property gave everyone nostalgic goosebumps. They even took a moment to recreate the iconic punch from the Wilder vs. Wilder episode!

• A Healthy Dose of Laughter: Laughter echoed across the region as Alison Arngrim (unforgettable as the delightfully wicked Nellie Oleson) brought her hit comedy show, "Confessions of a Prairie B*tch," to our community. It was sharp, hilarious, and a brilliant celebration of the fandom's lighter side.

Why the Pilgrimage Matters

Every week, we meet travelers who drive hundreds—sometimes thousands—of miles to stand in the kitchen of the 1840s farmhouse, gaze out at the rolling Franklin County fields, and walk through barns meticulously rebuilt from Almanzo’s own childhood memories.

Reading Farmer Boy plants the seed, but stepping foot onto the actual farm turns a childhood story into a lifelong memory. Seeing cast members from the show share space with actual history makes the connection even deeper.
